Dying Light: The Beast outlines the future of Techland's zombie series. For this to happen, devs had to get rid of an important element of the sequel
Dying Light: The Beast is set to outline the future of the entire series, developed by Techland. The developers explain why they dropped the choices.

The upcoming game Dying Light: The Beast, from the Polish studio Techland, will be characterized by limited choices. As Tymon Smektla, the director of the series, said in an interview with Gamesradar+, such a decision will help establish the official canon of the series.
In Dying Light 2, players could make various decisions that shaped the finale of the game. However, the devs decided to abandon the frequent choice options because The Beast is meant to determine the future of the series. For the spin-off to show the direction of development, it must have a single ending that all fans will reach.
One thing that Dying Light: The Beast does is hint at the future of the series. We really wanted to make sure that at the end of the game, Kyle Crane is where we want him to be, so that's why we decided to back down from the narrative choices of Dying Light 2 - said Smektala.
Even though The Beast is a spin-off of the series, Techland treats the game as a very important part of the universe. In one of the previous interviews, Smektala even stated that this installment can, in some sense, be referred to as "Dying Light 3."
The release of Dying Light: The Beast is scheduled for August 22, 2025. The game will hit PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
