Prologue, Act 1, Act 2, Fast Travel
The story of The Alters is divided into the prologue and several acts. Each chapter means a separate map you can explore. Our map shows all those areas, as well as marks the locations of the base, which serves as a safe haven for Jan and his Alters. The base's location is always pre-determined.
Every base is also a fast travel point, which you can easily return to. It's the only permanent fast travel point, as their availability and location depend on the construction of Mining Outposts and travel pylons.
Rapidium, Metals, Organics, Minerals, Enriched Metals
On our map we've shown the locations of main resources, which are used for crafting and creating rooms at your base.
Thanks to our markers and their descriptions you will find shallow deposits with a limited amount of resources and deep deposits where you can set up Mining Outposts.
Planetary Samples
Our map shows the internal veins and the interal vein cores. These special locations allow you to obtain a very rare resource called Planetary Samples.
Not all internal veins appear on the map right away. More may appear as a result of the approaching Sun - we have described this in more detail on the page How to obtain planetary samples?.
Climbing Walls, Rock Blockades
We've also marked blockades and places that are difficult to explore. High walls require the use of a climbing hook which consumes Jan's suit energy. As for the rock blockades, you'll need a drill to destroy them.
Collectibles, Movies, Quest Items
The map shows locations of collectibles, which can be, for example, gifts for other alters or movies to watch together at the base.
Additionally, we've marked where to find unique quest items required to complete certain tasks, such as a damaged chip that needs fixing at the base.
Anomalies, Radiation
By using our map you'll learn where to find dangerous areas. These are usually radioactive locations where you shouldn't linger for long.
We also show areas with hostile anomalies - contact with some of them can make Jan radioactive.
Energy Walls
We have marked these unique anomalies that can completely drain the energy of Jan's suit upon contact.
We described the problem in more detail on the page How to avoid energy walls?. Remember - you can use batteries or look for alternative paths.
Points of Interest
Some markers on our map indicate important and interesting locations that do not have their own icons on the map in the game. These can include unique discoveries, or places where you can complete specific tasks.
